U12 Hurling Aghabullogue V Donoughmore Report Page

18/06/07  Aghabullogue  2-02  Donoughmore  3-01

Aghabullogue and Donoughmore served up a cracking under 12 Hurling match in Coachford last night with victory just going to the Donoughmore lads by two points. At half time Aghabullogue trailed by two points having played with the wind and, when Donoughmore scored another goal early in the second half, it looked as if the game was over. However, if we know anything about these lads, it's that they never say die and so it proved again. A pointed free fron Ian Barry-Murphy started the revival. Outstanding defensive play fron Gavin O'Flynn and the six backs contained the Donoughmore attack and, when Billy Casey set up Oliver Lynch for a cracking goal, the margin was down to the minimum. Donoughmore extended the margin to two points from a sixty-five but Aghabullogue again came forward in waves driven by Sean O'Sullivan, Cal Og Healy, Dylan Kelleher, Michael O'Regan and David O'Connell. In the final minute, with the tension almost unbearable, a fortunate goal line clearance stopped Aghabullogue from taking the lead and shortly afterwards the referee blew for full time. It was a great game played in a great spirit by both teams. Aghabullogue lost nothing in defeat and, even though disappointed afterwards, all the players can be very proud of the way they performed. We wish Donoughmore all the best in the Championship final and we may meet them again in the league playoffs.
